Levels

Goslings London uses the following classification of player ability levels, consistent with other European LGBT+ badminton clubs and tournaments:

C-
Beginner: little or no prior experience, learning to execute and receive basic badminton strokes, e.g. low serve, smash, drop shots.

C+
Lower intermediate: good ability to execute and receive all badminton shots with some control, rudimentary use of tactics.

B-
Upper intermediate: strong and consistent ability to execute and receive all badminton shots, good control of the shuttle, solid tactics employed.

B+
Advanced: mastery of all shots, strong technical ability and control, advanced tactics employed.

A
County level: mastery of all shots, exceptional technical ability, advanced tactics employed.

 

Scoring

Games are played to 21 points, using the standard badminton scoring system.

Pegboard

Our doubles nights typically operate a pegboard system to ensure that everyone gets a fair number of games.

Capacity

Session capacity is limited to ensure that attendees get an adequate number of games.

Equipment and dress

Players should bring their own racquet. Racquet hire may be available at some of our sessions: please email us in advance if you require this.

Feather shuttlecocks are provided at all of our sessions.

All players are required to wear appropriate sports kit, including shoes with non-marking soles.
